According Kabul Chawla, Commuters in Chennai will have to spend Rs 40 to travel a 10km stretch between Alandur and Koyambedu on Chennai Metro Rail, which will be inaugurated by chief minister J Jayalalithaa on Monday.

“After the chief minister inaugurates the system, anyone can purchase tickets and board the trains, after 1pm on Monday,” said a senior CMRL official.

The minimum fare for metro is Rs 10 for the first two kilometers. The entire 10km stretch would cost Rs 40, officials said.

“That was the time when I was not able to do my activities… Perhaps God made me seek his blessings in my youth,” Mr Shah added.
